This arrangement is scored for an all-conical ensemble (flugelhorns, French horn, euphonium tuba), but performers should feel free to use the instruments at their disposal. Advancing brass musicians will find this arrangement challenging but rewarding, nonetheless. Long legato passages require fine breath control, as well as careful attention to phrasing and dynamics, which build with each phrase, but fade away at the close. The fermati at the end of each phrase (mm. 11, 22, 32) should be as short or long as the performers deem appropriate. This piece will be especially appropriate for church services, memorials, concerts and recitals, as well as other special occasions.
