Boston Common Brass for Eight Trumpets

Boston Common Brass is scored for 8 B-flat trumpets. Duration: approx. 5 min. This is a celebratory piece, with melodies, throbbing cluster chords and unexpected sounds. The ending section features a gorgeous single-line melody distributed/overlapped between the trumpets, and then followed by bursts of 'free' sounds, like fireworks. Players can surround the audience in a balcony or behind them. The premiere was in Sanders' Theatre, Harvard University, Cambridge, MA, 1987. Published by Visible Music.
