By the way...

Scored for four trumpets (in C). Duration: approx. 2:30. There are multiple meter changes, melodies that overlap between instruments, crisp chordal areas in the piece. The coda begins slightly atonal and gradually opens into bright harmonies at the end. A conductor may be useful in rehearsal and performance. 

By the way... for four trumpets was premiered during Oberlin College's Commencement Weekend, outdoors, in May 1989.
