A duet for each month.
In the fall of 2025, I wrote a short duet to play with a cellist friend. Since it was November at the time, I simply called the duet "November". It was an enjoyable little task, so I challenged myself to make a set of "Calendar Duets". The rules I set myself were that each month I had to write a new viola and cello duet; it had to fit in a two-page spread, nothing longer. I could only begin to think about a month's piece when it was that month, and the piece needed to be completed before the end of the month. The pieces capture or reflect ideas, moods or events of that month.
Each mvt. is about 3 - 4 minutes. Total duration about 38 minutes.
