The English lyrics for this setting were written by Clarice Knight, the arranger. The principal characteristic of the piece is the familiar four-note ostinato which opens it. The dynamics are also very important to the overall effectiveness of the carol beginning softly and gradually increased to a fortissimo then gradually dying away as it progresses to the end. �This arrangement is most appropriate for early adolescents (SSCB), but it may be sung by adults as SSAB voicing.
