The composition CHACATA was written in 1975 for my amazing Madison High School Band students, with the purpose of providing them with a song to perform at football games, parades, and marching festivals. The title CHACATA is a word I made for the composition, and does not have a meaning. It is pronounced "CHA-CA-TA."
It is my hope that CHACATA will provide students with a song that they will enjoy learning to play, and provide other music educators with a teaching tool that can be used to motivate and encourage their students.
CHACATA is dedicated to all of the Madison High School band members that I had the privilege of teaching from 1975-1980. All of these wonderful students continue to influence, inspire, and enriched my life.
