Coronation Overture was a piece I composed for my 5th grade band. This was a second year band. For the most part, all instruments stay in a one octave range. The clarinets don't play over the break. The rhythms used are limited to whole, half and eighth notes. This is a regal, majestic style piece that worked well with our first concert in December. The melodies are very basic with added counter melodies to help develop independence. This composition is quite suitable for moving up ceremonies or graduation .
