Dance of the Makam is inspired by the melodic system of Turkish traditions encompassing both composition and performance. Turkish music based on the Makam is often composed of many melodic families that outline similar modes, tunings, and tetrachords, but are often composed and played in slightly different forms or variations. In this piece, I chose two "modes" to outline in the first and second half of the piece. I hope you enjoy this dance, inspired by the Turkish melodic system of the Makam!
