Duets on the Mode

Intermediate Level. Have fun with these popular duets! Some are playful, others are serious, and some make duet partners laugh when their hands get close to each other. A commission from the Billings Music Teacher Association, these duets have been performed often, resulting in a second edition. The duets are based on the modes: Ionian, Dorian, Phyrygian, Lydian, Mixolydian, Aeolian, Locrian, Ionian. (to end on a "happy note"), all based on the white keys of the piano, illustrating the fifth note above and below, which creates intervals that sound strange, but create a different character and mood with each mode.
