El Tejon is an old son jaliscience that originated around the region of Cocula, Jalisco. It was recorded around 1907-08 by El Cuarteto Coculense. Due to the technology at the time, the guitarron was not recorded because the microphone could not capture the low bass frequency. This arrangement is for the advanced Junior High or High School ensemble. The violins are featured in the intro and intermedio (interlude) while the trumpet parts are minimal. This would be a good piece for ensembles with a strong violin section.
