Fanfare for Freedom

Fanfare for Freedom, a work for Concert Band, is written to serve as a concert opener or closer. It is packed with excitement as themes rise and fall throughout. Techniques such as rolls, trills, and sforzando piano dynamics keep the player and listener engaged. Excerpts of freedom quotes* spoken by band members, accompanied by a woodwind choir, will allow performers and audience to contemplate the privilege of freedom, and the delicate balance of behaviors that allow freedom to exist. As we continue to identify and acknowledge the many types of freedoms: freedom of speech, freedom of choice, freedom to be who we are, historical visions of freedom are expressed.
