Originally composed for E-flat, B-flat and Bass Clarinets, Four Scenes was composed for a classmate who attended George Mason University when I did. His tremendous talent allowed me the freedom to compose a work for a variety of clarinets. 25 years later, Dr. Ann Fronckowiak, Professor of Oboe at Texas A&M University-Kingsville, requested I transpose the piece for double reeds. That version was premiered in March 2023, featuring oboe and English horn. The movements highlight the strengths and versatility of the different instruments and is a showcase for the wind player and percussionist.
