Franklin Falls

Originally written for the Seattle Wind Symphony, conductor John Falskow, this piece evokes the amazing geographical setting of the city of Seattle. Nestled between the Olympic and Cascade Mountains, sitting on Puget Sound with Mt Rainier overlooking it all, Seattle can be an incredibly beautiful city. I moved to Seattle over 30 years ago and can still remember having my breath taken away by the sites and sounds of the city and overall area. Franklin Falls is just one such site, a large easily accessibly waterfall just off I-90 near Snoqualmie Pass. This piece was premiered in Benaroya Hall on July 3rd, 2025. It makes an excellent concert opener or closer! Big bold brassy melodies get the audiences attention and announces that the concert has begun! The piece was originally titled and performed as "A Seattle Overture".
