Frolic Flight of the Hummingbird

This original composition is written specifically for handbells with optional flute and percussion. It is a sonic representation of the journey of a hummingbird - from birth and nesting through fledging, first flight, feeding, resting, and returning to exuberant and joyous flight once again. The sheer delight of this journey is conveyed through bell techniques such as mallet, thumb damps, LV, shakes, and more. The addition of flute and simple percussion provides just the right support to make this a ringer and audience favorite! The composer describes this as written in a "jaunty Lydianesque mode and is characterized by a sixteenth note neighbor tone motif..." perfectly capturing "the whimsicality and wing pattern of a hummingbird's flight."
