Steely Dan's Gaucho was originally arranged by Fred Sturm for the HR Big Band (Germany). Set in a slow half-time gospel feel, there is beautiful, lush ensemble writing throughout the piece. As with most Steely Dan charts, there is plenty of solo space to feature guitar or trumpet, and it's a great way to add diversity to any program. Trumpets double on flugelhorns and the woodwind parts include flutes 1 an 2, soprano saxophones 1 and 2, and baritone saxophone. Bands and audiences alike will thoroughly enjoy this one!
