This great masterwork has been adapted for singing groups containing changing voices. The authenticity of the work has been maintained with only enough changes to conform to the range and tessitura limitations of early adolescent's voices. Questionably this piece is the most performed of any of the pieces from Mendelssohn's magnificent oratorio. As you will hear in the recording, it is well within the musical capabilities of early adolescents. It is a challenge, but the melodic character of the parts makes it easier for adolescents to conquer their individual part and remember it compared to many homophonic masterworks.
