This work marries orchestral techniques and textures with the rich colors of an a capella vocal ensemble. I was inspired to create this multi-movement work after considering the expressive poetry of the classic hymn Praise to the Lord. Each verse suggested a different sound world, and I drew from an extensive palette of choral timbres to create a vocal composition in a symphonic style, which echoes the structure of a classical symphony with its opening movement, scherzo, slow movement, second scherzo, and finale with an extended coda (the "Amen").
