SYNOPSIS:
When theatre critic Wilson Jones trashes Lance Smith’s new musical, the furious playwright discovers that the theatre critic has secretly written a play himself—and decides to produce it so he can review the critic for a change. What begins as vengeance spirals into a backstage whirlwind of rewrites, clashing artistic visions, jealousies, abandoned directors, vulnerable self-reflection, and the emotional unraveling of everyone involved. Caught in the middle is Grace Goodwin, a Broadway leading lady torn between loyalty, love, and her own search for authenticity. As opening night approaches, friendships fracture, careers teeter, and the characters must decide what truly matters in the theatre: “Perfection” or “The People Out There.” “Just A Play” is a witty, affectionate look at the beautiful madness of making theatre.
