This is a 14th century Latin hymn-text which was translated into English and published in Lyra Davidica in 1708 (and later in 1749 in Arnold's Compleat Psalmodist). According to the arranger, Dr. Irvin Cooper, originator of the Cambiata Concept, the tune was also from the 1708 publication. Another version of the hymn-text Christ the Lord is Risen Today has a different set of lyrics. Most of the stanzas of this later hymn were written by Charles Wesley, and the hymn appeared under the title Hymn for Easter Day in Hymns and Sacred Songs by Charles and John Wesley in 1739.
