Lumen's Gift

Lumen’s Gift is a musical soundtrack that mirrors a young girl’s journey to save her kingdom from an evil sorcerer. The composition is designed to track the story’s progression, as the narrator sets up each musical scene. As students follow the story through the music, they can explore various moods and characters, making each section feel like a new adventure. This dynamic approach encourages creativity and expression, allowing players to bring their own interpretations to the episodes of the story. Moreover, performing a piece with narration can be especially rewarding as it turns each rehearsal and performance into a journey of discovery and imagination. At the beginning of Menacing (m 50), players with the rectangular note shape are encouraged to play any note on their instrument that they wish. The resulting sound should be a menacing crescendo with no tonal center.
