This well-known Irish Blessing has been set by Charles Kirby especially for choirs containing changing voices. It may be sung as a three-part arrangement (SSC) or a four-part arrangement (SSCB). Part IV is optional so the composition may be sung with or without it. This work may also be sung by older adolescents and adults as SSA or SSAB voicing. Kirby has designed a very singable piece with a well-written piano accompaniment which may be played by an adolescent or church pianist. The text is basically secular throughout except for the closing which is analogous to someone parting with a beloved friend. He or she might say "Goodbye, and God bless you." It is suitable to be sung at the closing of a concert or worship service.
