This work for soprano solo and piano is a setting of the powerful prayer of the great mystic St. Catherine of Siena (1347 1380). It is the fourth movement of my dramatic cantata Children of the Light (2014). My Nature is Fire uses the English translation by Suzanne Noffke OP, a noted scholar and, like Catherine, a Dominican sister. For this standalone version of the work I merely adapted the original four-hand keyboard part for solo piano. It is suitable for use in either a sacred or concert setting and requires an advanced singer and pianist.
