This arrangement of Pomp and Circumstance is written in a fully flexible format to allow the director to assign parts as needed for reduced instrumentation, and it is intended specifically for graduation ceremonies. It's made to help the director and the students achieve a strong sound in a short amount of time with limited instrumentation.
There are two optional percussion breaks meant to both engage the percussionists and to give the winds a chance to rest, and there are two optional ending points to help with timing the piece to coincide with the end of a graduation processional. The end of the four-bar drum breaks may also be used as optional ending points if needed.
I sincerely hope that this arrangement makes preparing for and performing at graduations an easier endeavor for both the band members and the director.
