Louis-Francois Dauprat was a horn player, teacher and composer during the
Classical era in France. He studied at the Paris Conservatoire and in 1797
was awarded the first-ever premier prix for the horn. The prize, a
silver-mounted horn, is in the Musee de la Musique of the Conservatoire.
Dauprats six Sextets were written for his horn students to practice
reading and playing in various keys.
This arrangement is for 2 Bb trumpets, F horn, trombone, euphonium and
tuba. Alternate parts are available
for C trumpets, Eb horn, trombone and euphonium in treble clef and Eb tuba in
treble clef.
