Seven Portrait Miniatures

The title of this composition has a double meaning. The word miniatures suggests a small (in this case, short) portrait, as well as musically suggesting the character of the Brothers Grimm's seven dwarfs. There are times where programmatic elements may appear but for the most part, the composition is designed to suggest the nature of each dwarf rather than tell a specific story. The movements are Doc, Bashful, Grumpy, Dopey, Sleepy, Sneezy, and Happy.
