Lord Byron's well-known poem She Walks in Beauty has been wed to a familiar instrumental piece by Johannes Brahms. Ms. Hokanson skillfully arranged it to fit the ranges of early adolescent singers. The four parts may be sung as SSCB or SATB voicing (they are set in closed scoring - two parts in the treble clef and two parts in the bass clef). It is not clear if the beautiful romantic melody sung by the choir was written and adapted originally by Brahms or Ms. Hokanson. Finding choral music from the Romantic period that is within the capability and ranges of early adolescents is often difficult. It is to be hoped this piece will alleviate the issue, if only partially. The audio presentation is sung by a boy's choir with treble, cambiata, and early adolescent voices. The piano part which accompanies them is performed by a young man in the 9th grade.
