Arguably the most famous Christmas carol of all time, Franz Gruber's original tune was originally supposed to be performed with his church's pipe organ but because of its deterioration that would make played notes sound out of tune, the song was first performed on guitar. This arrangement is a reflection of that event. The prelude, sounding pleasant at first, soon starts to drift out of tune with non-harmonious tones before reaching its clashing resolution. The song is then reintroduced with guitar-like strums and the simplistic melody with little embelishments.
