Six Planetary Acrostics was composed in 1980 and entered into the Ithaca College International Choral Competition where it was awarded second prize.
The score is composed for SATB & Piano and is intended for high school, college or professional chamber choir.
The texts were written by grade school kids as a science project for remembering the order of the planets outward from the sun. When the exercise was assigned and when the composition was written Pluto was still regarded as a planet!
The acrostics bear the creative signature of children and the music is intended to be fun as well as educational. I hope your choir enjoys singing these little vignettes as much as I enjoyed composing them.
