So Here's the Thing

Based on the chord progression from the Duke Ellington–Billy Strayhorn classic Take the "A" Train, this chart opens with the train's arrival at the station where it's "All aboard!" for a fun swinging adventure. Trombone and alto sax solos (written solos provided) are followed by trading fours between the brass and the bassist (written solos are provided here as well). A full-bodied shout chorus follows, including an eight-bar sax soli. The musical adventure comes to a close with the train pulling back into the station with smiles all around.
