Solos

Originally composed by Bill Holman for the Stan Kenton Orchestra, Bob Curnow's edition of Solos scores the melody in the unison saxophone section and is written for eight brass. A straight-ahead, swinging chart based on rhythm changes, it features a hip, angular melody that sets up some powerful ensemble passages. There is lots of solo space for alto saxophone, trumpet, trombone, and piano.
