Sonata for Piano is a three movement work with robust and challenging rhythms and beautiful lyrical lines. The composer was asked to compose a work that loosely resembles the Classical sonata ideal. While holding to this concept, it retains a strongly modern and contemporary tone. The three movements, I. Primal Impulses, II. Interludes, and III. Pointillistic Play cover many, if not most, of the contemporary musical developments of the middle to late 20th century piano music. The work could easily serve as a centerpiece for any recital.
