The Suite for Piano is a light-hearted work with jazz overtones. Consisting of three movements: I. First Impressions, II. Quiet Elegance and III. Purposeful Play, it reflects the 18th century suite that largely consisted of dance-style movements. The composer decided to base his modern suite on jazz-oriented harmonies and rhythms. The first Movement, I. First Impressions, is a jazz waltz, the second, II. Quiet Elegance, is a jazz ballad and the third movement, III. Purposeful Play, is minimalist in tone with the slower section consisting of jazz lines and harmonies. The various movements can be played as a whole or as independent pieces. It's a fun work for pianists of all ages.
