SuperHip Robot Showdown

Here is one I think everyone will really enjoy! SuperHip Robot Showdown is a quasi-funk tune that grows out to a ostinato bass line. The tune builds through several different musical ideas featuring different sections of the band. This is certainly one of the more progressive charts and can be used as a palate cleanse from the usual fare in a typical set. There are two written 16-bar solos in the alto and trumpet but that section may also be opened up for others. The sixteenth note subdivision is vital throughout the tune. The rhythms demand it! I used it as a tool to help students decipher 16th note rhythms and help them to feel more comfortable with these notes and patterns.
