And in today's often turbulent times it seems more important than ever that we strive to adopt an attitude of charity, generosity and love towards each other, and do our best to eliminate hate from our world. Featuring three main thematic ideas, That We May Give expresses human emotions, emphasizing the spirit of kindness and joy. The first theme, stated twice, evokes a sense of sadness, longing and uncertainty. The second theme, is majestic and inspires hope and unity. A short interlude features the beautiful Scottish folk song O Waly Waly, which is also used in the hymn The Gift of Love. A climatic return of the second theme, now with all stops pulled, leads to a soft and peaceful conclusion.
