From "Scarlet and Blue" or "Songs for Soldiers and Sailors." Published 1896. A delightful satire on a sea-story, about a battle fought during the NapoleonicWars, written by Capt. Frederick Marryat, RN., a distinguished veteran of overfifty battles in those conflicts. Captain Marryat was also an inventor, prolificnovelist and poet, who had run away to sea at the age of fourteen. During his naval career, he had guarded Napoleon on the Island of St. Helena, and ultimatelybrought the news of Napoleon's death to England. Arranged and adapted for modern folk instruments by Ed Swanzey.
