The Stockhouse Shuffle

This swinging chart is a true shuffle in the tradition of Jerome Richardson's The Groove Merchant as performed by the Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Orchestra. The tempo makes this chart accessible and is great for teaching style. The trumpet range goes up to high C and the trombone up to G flat. Trumpet and tenor sax solos are separated by a clever interlude before moving on to a shout section that will really show off the band's dynamic contrast as the energy moves between the brass and saxes.
