The eye of a storm is a very common idiomatic and storytelling device. Something about the idea of peace and tranquility in the midst of chaos has held deep value to artists for decades. This piece, while not directly tied to a given emotion, is meant to serve as a more literal imagining of what a trip through a hurricane would feel like. Surrounded on each end by a relentless flurry of notes, the middle "eye" section of the peace serves as a melodic break before being thrown back into chaos. Compositionally, this piece is also a departure from my usual melodic and tonal style, featuring several atonal and odd rhythmic sections, much like the unpredictable weather expected from a storm.
