Tribal Meeting

History books remind us that hundreds of people lived in the land we now call the United States of America before European settlers landed on this continent. These people are called Native Americans. To get a glimpse of their culture, one must visit a museum today, even though tribes still reside on reservations scattered about the U.S.a We can learn much from the Native Americans regarding their spiritual beliefs, their conservation of the land, their calculations about Earth and Sky and their regard for nature. Studying Native American history reminds us of a simpler time and encourages us to embrace all that is human as we race into the future. This music is built on the pentatonic scale which Native Americans used to produce music for many purposes including ceremonial chants and celebrations. This is part one of a Native American Suite which includes three other works: Sunrise, Love Flute and Dream Catchers.
