Westward Bound

Westward Bound is a tribute to my favorite Western film scores. From Silverado to modern examples of the genre, the Western has been a favorite of mine since I was a child. Capturing the sweeping landscape of the open frontier, the sense of adventure, and the raw beauty of the wilderness, Westward Bound seeks to capture the spirit of the Old West as it is represented in countless Hollywood classics. Bookended by the primary theme in an augmented rhythm, the piece moves from the first high-energy motif through a melodic section in the woodwinds. The third theme, presented by the trumpets, ties the two together before returning to the first theme. Westward Bound tells the story of the Great Westward Expansion, carrying all the hope, awe, and sense of adventure the cinematic western has always provided.
