The title of this swinging original refers to the confidence-building block voicings that allow young musicians to work towards uniform jazz phrasing and articulations.  It opens with a brass soli and then hands the melodic material over to the saxes.  A written or ad lib solo for tenor saxophone is provided but the solo section can be opened up for additional players.  This chart is playable with as few as 9 pieces and is expandable all the way to a 17-piece big band and beyond, since optional flute, clarinet, horn in F, tuba and vibes parts are also included.  Highly recommended!
