Publisher Desc.  Chester was originally written as a patriotic anthem that was sung during the American Revolutionary War. It was written in 1770 by William Billings. The title is named after an arbitrarily chosen town. This arrangement is for late beginning orchestra. It begins with a short col legno introduction followed by a statement of the main theme in unison. Harmony and some light polyphony are then used to engage the student player.
