Dies Irae
This exceptional work has been appearing on many state and regional festival lists since its publication in 2006, and deservedly so. This setting of Dies Irae isolates a portion of the text and juxtaposes driving, accentuated rhythms with towers of full sonorities. The piano writing provides an agitating undercurrent in the opening and closing sections. An outstanding showcase by one of today's most important choral composers.
