Divertimento in D
Written for string quartet. This is presumably the first edition ever of this Divertimento by Vanhal (1739-1813), one of the first composers to succeed in making a living from composing and teaching music to noble families. He was entrusted with the initial musical training of Ignaz Pleyel, later to become celebrated all over Europe. Mozart and Haydn also admired his works and performed many of them. Preface in Eng. and Ger., p. 2-3. Score (23 p.) and parts.
