Greensleeves
(Woodwind or Brass Solo and Piano)
Traditional English Folk Song /arr. Ronald Miller - Ronald Miller
Greensleeves
Publisher Desc.
The original beauty of this traditional folk tune is maintained in this
creative arrangement for instrumental solo and piano. Tasteful liberty is taken with the harmony,
and occasional embellishments are added to the melody. In addition, the arrangement contrasts the
upper and lower registers of the solo instrument and features both the solo
instrument and piano. Originally, the
tune was a secular folk song; but, with different lyrics by William
Chatterton Dix and a title change (What Child Is This?), it became an advent
or Christmas carol. Therefore, with no
lyrics in Ron Miller's arrangement, it can be included in either category and
performed anytime during the year.
Each instrument set includes one piano score and one solo part, except
for the euphonium set which includes two solo parts, one in bass clef and one
in treble clef.
