Publisher Desc.  Camille Saint-Saens composed La Lever de la Lune in 1855 for voice in piano, although it wasn't published for another 10 years. It was based on an anonymous poem "in the style of Ossian" a mythical Irish hero and poet. The piece starts with a bit of musical imagery, having the soloist and piano rising chromatically, representing the slow rising of the moon.
