One of the several preludes and fugues by the Baroque composer. The melodic Prelude is followed by a Fugue, featuring solo entries for all instruments. The lyrical Prelude features rich harmonies with tonal shifts both on and off the beat following the lead of the first clarinet player through to the final statement. The Fugue starts with a chromatic theme by the first clarinet, followed closely by the second and third clarinet players in turn. The arrangement then modulates through to a dramatic finale. Scored for four B-flat clarinets and bass clarinet.
