Seasons Through My Window

Erica Merideth /arr. Tyler Merideth - Tyler Merideth
Publisher Desc.  "Seasons Through My Window" began when my oldest daughter starting writing a poem about Fall when she was six. She suggested that we might "sing her poem". Thus, the seed was planted for this work. The process would typically include Erica writing a poem about the season, singing it to me, and then I would notate it and then create a harmony and accompaniment. Throughout the process I would give her choices about what I was writing as she sat next to me, singing along. Here are some performance notes about the piece. Fall The opening and closing vocal part is meant to be the sound created by the wind. So, a "whoosh" sound with some swells would be fun. The scoop/slide/gliss on "pumpkins scary" is crucial. Please exaggerate. Winter This movement is rather wordy. Please take at a tempo in which your choir can articulate all of the words. The neighbor's dog is found in the accompaniment. He comes back to end the movement. Spring This movement is pretty straight forward. The gliss at the end can be taken out of time as long as it is still in tune and key. Summer The fireworks found in the accompaniment were written by Erica. Please approximate and improvise. Play with the imagination of a six year old. Thanks for considering this piece. If you perform it, we would love to hear about it. Please contact us at tylermerideth.com
