Beginning with a playful allegretto with an almost oriental sound, the melody reflects the shadow of a young person dancing. The next section is beautiful melody in a lyrical and expressive style. A very quick flourish then follows featuring a technical interplay between the oboe and the piano. The composition then concludes with a restatement of the original playful melody. This was composed in 1991 and originally published by Southern Music Co. In 2023, the composer required publishing rights and this new edition includes more detailed dynamic markings and a revised ending.
