Helen Crane's first String Quartet
written approx. 1898. very classical; Mozartian, first movement -
"sonata allegro"; second movement - a lovely somber singing 9/8,
third movement - "scherzo & trio" and final movement -
"vivace". Helen Crane was a student of Philip Scharwenka at the
Berlin Conservatory, was published in Europe and well enough appreciated to
have two all - Helen Crane concerts at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria in
1928 and 1930.
