Suite from Capriccio on the departure of his most beloved brother
(Brass Quartet - General use)
J. S. Bach /arr. Charles Evans - Charles Evans
Suite from Capriccio on the departure of his most beloved brother
Publisher Desc.
This early work of Bach from which this suite is drawn, may be the only
piece of programmatic keyboard music that Bach ever composed. Written to commemorate the bittersweet
departure of a brother or close friend, this suite consists of three
movements adapted from the original Capriccio. The opening Arioso is a lament on the
departure, followed by an aria depicting the cheerful arrival of the postal
carriage via the postilion's horn call, and concludes with a rousing fugue
based on that call. This clever
arrangement makes a most interesting addition to the brass quartet Bach
repertoire. Scoring is for two
trumpets, tenor trombone (or horn in F) and bass trombone. Duration 5:12
